As you can see the indications are really impressive.
This is a much better and easier way to do things compared to conventional surgery. It is more than clear that lasers can’t do everything, but the CO2 so far has been of great help for dentists. It has the ability to control bleeding which makes cutting into soft tissues much easier for dental professionals. By reducing the hemorrhage, they have more visibility in the field compared to cutting with scalpels. Another great thing is that these lasers are very fast and precise. It’s all done in a short period of time. The post-procedure period is much easier for the patient and the recovery is faster. The number of complications post-surgery is lower as well with the CO2 laser compared to conventional surgery. The laser destroys bacteria, and there is a minimal risk of infection. The use of lasers is very time-saving for dentists. If the patient can afford it, it’s a better alternative to conventional techniques in a lot of the cases. There are still many things that are supposed to be researched and improved in the use of the CO2 laser, but so far it is a very good solution for many dental problems.
The main disadvantage is the limited use. Although the CO2 laser is indicated for a number of procedures, it is still not as commonly used as conventional surgical procedures. Another disadvantage is, of course, the price. Not all patients can afford to pay the price. Also, not all dental offices can afford to buy one of these lasers. That is why patients can find the services in every dental clinic.
